The ice may be gone at the Providence Rink at Alex and Ani City Center, but the fun certainly isn’t. While everyone’s packed up their winter boots and found their favorite pair of flip flops, the rink has also started its own transition into the summer season.

From June to October, families can take part in programs that include bumper cars, bubble soccer, foot darts and human bowling.

Over the winter, the bumper cars at Providence Rink had their home on the ice, but they’ll now function as bumper cars. It’s recommended that anyone interested make a phone reservation, as walk-ups are given rides on a first-come, first-serve basis. For $12 per person, you’ll get twenty minutes in the rink.

If you’ve ever thought regular soccer was fun but could be even better with an anti-gravity twist, then look no further than bubble soccer. Up to fourteen participants are each placed into a large, completely safe ball equipped with handles and shoulder straps before they’re sent onto the field. Participants must be older than twelve years old. It costs $12 for twenty minutes of play time.

Foot darts is a different spin on soccer that’s a little more grounded and actually involves some kicking. Velcro soccer balls have replaced darts to be kicked at a giant dartboard. Anyone who has reservations for bumper cars or bubble soccer is allowed to play for free.

If soccer isn’t your sport of choice, human bowling is the perfect solution. You can’t pass up the opportunity to roll and bounce around in an anti-gravity ball. Participants must be ages twelve and older, but there’s no fee for anyone with reservations for bumper cars or bubble soccer.

The rink’s summer programs will be held every week on Wednesday to Sunday nights, weather permitting. All participants must also sign a release waiver before taking part in any events.
