The Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol Counties announces its 19th Annual Edna Open Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, July 30 at the Wanumetonomy Golf and Country Club, 152 Browns Lane, Middletown RI. The event begins at 12:00 noon with registration and hamburger/hot dog lunch, followed by a shotgun start at 1:00 PM sharp. A steak fry dinner and awards ceremony with extensive silent auction and 50/50 raffle follows in the clubhouse. Price for the tournament and banquet is $125. The Edna Open benefits VNS Hospice. The memorial tournament was organized in 1994 by the family of Edna Schwartz to honor her life. Since then, the Open has expanded to also remember Kathy O’Brien Franks and brothers, Jay and Jerold Schwartz all cared for at the end of life by VNS Hospice.
