The Gilbert Stuart Museum is proud to announce a fun and fundraising event, On the Lawn:a Garden Gala. The honorary chair of the event is noted artist Harley Bartlett. His oil painting of the Museum graces the cover of the On the Lawn invitation and other original paintings pertinent to the Museum are planned for display at the event. Also on the agenda is sumptuous grazing and sipping; live music by Rocky Hollow, featuring a mixture of bluegrass, swing and folk with mandolin, bass, banjo and guitar; a raffle; a silent auction; Attic Perennials, a garden-themed offering of new and vintage items; a centerpiece contest and an art show, Art in Bloom, featuring depictions of gardens and blooms in profusion (this art show will continue at the Museum until July 23). The event will also highlight Rich Schartner, of Schartner farms, who will be chatting with the guests about the local food movement in Rhode Island. He will also assist the Museum in providing and incorporating locally produced food for the Museum’s On the Lawn sliders, snacks and strawberries. The event is part of the Gilbert Stuart Museum’s Capital Campaign and is specifically dedicated to raising funds for upgrading handicapped access to its Welcome Center. |
