A local couple takes the leap.
Local designer Myles Dumas’ fiance, Roisin McGettigan, couldn’t find any cool new T-shirts to send home to her native Ireland. So the couple made some. “We had the brainwave in November and had shirts in stores by December,”’ says Dumas. “Literally three weeks.” While Providence College and RISD alum Dumas handled much of the technical details, Roisin, a professional runner, lent her artistic talents as well, drawing a fork-and-knife themed “Providence” for one of the designs. So far, response to their “RI Threads” has been positive, and the pair plans to put their profits toward their next collaboration: an August wedding. “The T-shirts are something I’ve always wanted to do, but Roisin gave me the kick in the ass to try it,” says Dumas. Sorry, we have to say it: Looks like these two are suited to a tee. See all six designs at rithreads.com.—N.M.
