Taking the Pulse
Four local doctors diagnose the current state of healthcare. Plus, our annual list of the top doctors in the state.
Each year, in addition to completing our Top Docs survey, we ask the state’s physicians to give us their thoughts on current medical issues. Their answers are always provocative and well thought out, and leave us wondering about what else doctors are itching to talk about. So this year we decided to find out. Along with our standard survey questions, we rounded up four local doctors and sat them down for a candid (and anonymous) question and answer session, asking them about issues that are of equal interest to doctors and to you, the patient. ¶ We also asked one very important question of more than 2,000 of the state’s licensed physicians: If you or a member of your family had a problem in any of the following areas, who would you select as the best specialist? Those polled were eager to give us their answers, as well, which are listed here in the form of 156 of Rhode Island’s most dedicated doctors, who are affiliated with hospitals all over the state. It’s proof that Rhode Islanders are in good hands no matter where they go for care. Edited by Courtney Anderson
