Matthew Thomsen is the new executive chef at Vintage Restaurant. Thomsen has worked at the restaurant since its opening and brings with him experience from stints at both Daniel in New York City and Restaurant L in Boston. 4 South Main Street, Woonsocket, 765-1234, vintageri.com.

The marina at Forty 1° North has announced the opening of two restaurants in Newport: The Grill and Christie’s. The former will serve sea-food, grilled meats and a raw bar on a wrap-around deck and bar. The latter, located just off Thames Street, is a family-friendly eatery serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The second annual Foxwoods Food and Wine Festival will take place from September 14 to 16. The weekend includes cooking demonstrations, wine and spirits seminars and tasting events with nationally known chefs and food personalities Lidia Bastianich, Giada De Laurentiis, Harold Dieterle, Dave Lieberman and Ming Tsai.
