We don’t want to say the Wintertime Farmers’ Market at Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket is more fun than summer’s outdoor markets, but it is pretty darn festive. Farmers and food artisans from the tri-state area set out their fresh-picked veggies (January is good for greens), eggs, dairy, meat, seafood, baked goods and local specialties from apple butter to coffee every Saturday in the halls of the old mill space, while musicians strum live tunes (produce-picking is way more fun with fiddles) and friends catch up at the market cafe or next-door Blackstone or Rosinha’s for lunch. If all you really crave is convenience, the free parking is ample and vendors take everything from food stamps to credit cards. In other words, is it Saturday yet? The Wintertime Farmers’ Market runs from November to May at Hope Artiste Village, 1005 Main Street in Pawtucket. Saturdays 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Find more info at farmfresh.org. —NICOLE MARANHAS
