| Wining and dining takes on new meaning in this polished Providence cellar. To accommodate their bottles and create a setting for entertaining, the owners required a room warm enough for comfort, yet chilly enough for their collection. The solution? Call in a team of city pros: architect J. P. Couture devised the slick space including the arched coolers; Parker Thompson handled the construction; interior designer Susan Symonds tackled the lighting and regal furnishings, and Coldmasters saw to the refrigeration issues. Separate coolers allow the owners to select the proper degrees for whites and reds, without affecting the room’s temperature. And talk about ambience; in candlelight, the Portuguese limestone walls and floor glow. Art, accessories (note the wall-mounted opener, facing page), fittings (gleaming strap door hinges)—every detail is appropriate, making gatherings here as memorable as the wine. |
