Getting it in writing

Photography by Kim Praast

It’s important to be sure the details you and your photographer agreed upon are put in writing. Read the contract carefully, ask for adjustments to be made if necessary, and be sure you are comfortable with the terms before you sign on the dotted line and cut a check for the deposit.

Your contract should include the following information:
  •  Number of hours the photographer(s) will be available on the wedding day
  •  Name of photographer(s)
  •  Cost of an engagement session
  •  Post-wedding processes (are actual prints delivered to you, and are they posted on a purchasing website?)
  •  Timeline detailing when you will receive pictures
  •  Cost (or range) of an album (and parent albums)
  •  Travel fees
  •  Deposit amount and schedule of  payments
  •  Cancellation policy
