Follow the painted feet (and the sound of looms banging) upstairs to this friendly studio, where you're likely to find the young and talented Maya Tavares at work on a custom creation (on our last visit, she was weaving an intricate, and totally gorgeous, bamboo scarf) or teaching a novice the ways of the loom. In the adjoining retail space and gallery, handmade works by Tavares and other local artists include rugs, belts, scarves and blankets made from bamboo and organic cotton, as well as wool from nearby farms.
