RISD graduate (and modern furniture maker) Peter Morse wasn't content to leave his creativity outside the kitchen door. Last year, he launched Mor-Sels, a combination of coarse, gray salt, herbs and lemon zest that can be used on foods both hot and cold. Though you'll lose its subtlety in cooking, a sprinkle on finished foods adds depth and texture. Fresh goat cheese in olive oil, summer pastas and even a bowl of vanilla gelato are all better for it. 2.5-ounce tins available at Whole Foods, specialty shops and online.
