Thirty years after opening its doors, El Paisa is still serving up the best Colombian food in Rhode Island. Cassava, empanadas and corn (maize) bread are staples, but the scent of the Zuleta family's roasting chickens and fried sweet bananas beckon us for lunch, dinner and after-midnight snacks on the weekend. If you're the adventurous sort, try the traditional liver with Colombian cheese or the scrambled eggs with tripe. With fuel prices this high, Central Falls looks a whole lot better than Cartagena.
