What’s Old is New

Fresh reasons to visit five classic New England destinations.

Sol LeWitt Wall Drawing North Adams, MA
Sol LeWitt Wall Drawing Retrospective
Created according to specs set out by LeWitt before he died last year, Mass MoCa’s much-buzzed-about new exhibition features three stories of his dizzying (in a good way) geometric wall drawings. Can’t make it to the Berkshires anytime soon? Don’t worry, the retrospective will be on view until 2033. Massmoca.org

FP3 Dining ComplexBoston, MA
FP3 Dining Complex
Chef Barbara Lynch’s ever-growing culinary empire now has an outpost in South Boston’s burgeoning Fort Point area. The three-phase project includes casual Italian spot Sportello and cocktail bar Drink, where mixologists craft libations based on your flavor and liquor preferences. A fine-dining restaurant will open later this year. Barbaralynch.com

Stowe, VTStowe, VT
Stowe Mountain Lodge
Located at ski paradise Stowe Mountain Resort, this new hotel was created in the architectural tradi-tion of turn-of-the-century New England summer camps, but is decidedly of-the-minute with posh extras like an eighteen-hole golf course, Mario Russo salon and farm-to-table restaurant. The Currier Museum of ArtManchester, NH
The Currier Museum of Art
After a dramatic $21.4 million makeover, the Currier recently reopened with a new auditorium and cafe, and enough gallery space to display 50 percent more of its collection (think Rodin, Picasso, etc.). The museum also owns the Zimmerman House, the only Frank Lloyd Wright property in New England open to the public. Currier.org

Kennebunkport, MEKennebunkport, ME

Hidden Pond
This high-end summer compound is home to fourteen whimsically named (Lucky, Stargazer, Hummingbird) private rental cottages. Each of the retreats was decorated by a different local designer and comes with amenities like a full kitchen, Frette bed linens, a gas fireplace and outdoor shower. Hiddenpondmaine.com
