Speaking of Earthquakes

Mar 16, 2010 - 03:00 PM

There was another one off the coast of Chile today, magnitude 6.7 and followed by three aftershocks in the 5 range. AND there was one in California, although at a paltry magnitude 4.4, it didn't do much damage (just imagine if that happened here! It would scare the socks off everyone).
Then there was the 6.5 off Japan, and a 6.4 in Indonesia, both on Sunday. Maybe it's just that the humanitarian impact of the Haiti and Chilean disasters this year has me sensitized, but it seems like there's a whole lot of quaking going on - just check out usgs.gov's roundup of the latest temblors above 2.5. It's like the earth is trying to shake us off.
