Looking for something summery to do after work?
Grab some friends and head to the Burnside Park Music Series, which kicks off this week in Kennedy Plaza in Providence and runs through August. This year’s lineup includes performers from Providence to Mali. The series is free, open to everyone and refreshments are available. The festivities run from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

June 28: M.A.K.U. Soundsystem, an Afro-Colombian band from Queens
July 5: DJ Save 1: Providence DJ spins soul, funk and Latin music
July 12: The Holmes Brothers: The Bronx-based trio blends blues, gospel, soul, R&B and country
July 19: Dustin Wong: Guitar player from New York
July 26: Khaira Arby and Her Band: The “reigning queen of song in Mali” performs blues with a full rhythm band
August 2: Janka Nabay and the Bubu Gang: Dance rhythms with roots in Sierra Leone
August 9: The Famous Winters: Bluesy rock from Providence
August 16: The Jes Powers Project: Collaboration of local acts from Providence
August 23: BebeRequin: Pop music with ancient folk and gypsy influences from Providence
August 30: Live Bait: Performers tell true stories in six minutes on the theme of Divine Providence
