Adam Emery back in the news

Apr 19, 2010 - 11:15 AM

Adam Emery, who some believed jumped off the Claiborne Pell Bridge with his wife Elena back in 1993 - her remains were found; his weren't - is about to be placed on the FBI's wanted list, according to the Providence Journal.
Emery killed an innocent man, Jason Bass, after a traffic mishap at Rocky Point in August 1990. He was charged with second degree murder the day he and his wife parked their car on the bridge and disappeared.
We did a story on them back in our 20th anniversary issue, May 2008. I was shocked to read in Sunday's ProJo story that Jason Bass's family didn't find out that Adam had been declared dead in RI until that story came out - four years later. The family also wrote to us to tell us what a wonderful man Jason was. That certainly seems to be true.
It's both sad and fascinating to see the story back in the news. Since the only new information seems to be the FBI move, I'm looking forward to reading more about why his name is going on the wanted list - there's only a glancing mention in the ProJo story.
